Biodiversity data managers in Local Environmental Records Centres, Conservation NGOs, Consultancies and professionals in organisations who need to understand and interpret UKHab habitat data,

Do I need to have used UKHab already?

No. Participants may have used UKHab in the field or received UKHab data and reports using UKHab.

What does the course cover?

UKHab Version 2.0 (2023) is described. The UKHab standard attribute data model is explained. Options for managing UKHab spatial data in GIS are explored, along with the presentation of UKHab data and maps to users.

Learning outcomes

  1. Understand the structure and content of UKHab V2.0.
  2. Understand the application of the UKHab attribute data model.
  3. Appreciate the options available for managing and presenting UKHab spatial data.
  4. Ability to review and understand received UKHab data and maps.
  5. Recognise variations in quality in received UKHab data and mapping.

Please note that this course will not cover the details of commercially available GIS or products or the application of UKHab data in Biodiversity Net Gain.

How is this course delivered?

This online course runs over two days. Each day consists of a 3-hour session starting at 10 a.m. Between the two sessions, participants will be asked to complete a short task, which should take about an hour.
